G-MAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week (April 11)

4.11.16

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus redshirt freshman hurdler/sprinter Paris Vaughan was named the fourth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for 2016 on Monday.

The Battlers competed in the Brandi Bowen Invitational this past weekend at Glenville State in West Virginia where they placed fourth out of seven teams.

Vaughan has won this honor once before in the indoor season back in January and this is his first honor as G-MAC Athlete of the Week for the current outdoor season.

Vaughan led the Battler pack in the 400-meter high hurdles as he broke the AB school record by over four seconds with his first place finish of 55.52.

Vaughan effectively recorded the G-MAC’s second-fastest time in the event, coming close to matching a 55.02 clocked by Denzel Peters (Central State) last year.

As the meet went on, Vaughan competed in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.76. That time also ranks as first in the league for 2016.

He finished third overall in that event, respectively.

The Battlers look to this weekend where they will compete in Pennsylvania in the Bison Invitational hosted by Bucknell University.
