GREENWOOD, Ind. - Alderson Broaddus senior thrower Jessica Slaughter was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for 2016 on Monday.
Slaughter and the Battlers had an impressive showing during their spring outdoor debut at the Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational.
AB finished second in the team standings only to host Charleston with seven total schools in attendance.
Slaughter turned in a runner-up performance in the hammer throw with an attempt of 32.50 meters. She also finished second in the discus, her third throw out of six the longest at almost 34 meters.
The product from Yuma, Ariz., recorded her third top-five placing with a fourth-place finish in the shot put. Her longest attempts was a 8.83 meters.
