GREENWOOD, Ind. – Davis & Elkins senior shortstop/third baseman Katelyn Norton and Alderson Broaddus sophomore pitcher/outfielder Ashley Baker were named as the sixth set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Athletes of the Week on Monday.
 
Davis & Elkins (8-2) swept both Elizabeth City State contests while Alderson Broaddus (3-3) tallied three straight wins vs. Paine and in the Fast Pitch Dream tournament against Penn State-Schuylkill and Roosevelt.

Baker dazzled in the circle this past week as she went 2-0 while earning two of the Battlers three winning decisions at the Fast Pitch Dreams tournament.

Baker had a combined seven scoreless innings including 11 strikeouts and just two walks. 

She continued to work against Paine at the Shaw Challenge when she came in from relief for her team trailing by one (8-7) after three innings. 

She came out strong, pitching two scoreless innings and recording five of her six outs with strikeouts while the offense got tracked and scored 18 total runs.
 
She went on to score her second win in the circle in a start against Penn State-Schuylkill. She allowed only one unearned run on just two hits while striking out three.

Norton belted two home runs in as many games for the Senators as they continued to trend upward with a five-game win streak, including seven victories in their last eight contests.

In the first game against scoreless Elizabeth City State of the CIAA, Norton went 2-for-5 from the plate with a double and home run.

She was credited with three RBI. 

Norton launched her second homer of the day in the game two with four more RBI after she went 3-for-4. 

In 10 games, Norton is batting over .400 (.405) with five doubles, 17 RBI and the two home runs.
