GREENWOOD, Ind. – Salem International senior catcher/infielder Katie Chryssofos and Kentucky Wesleyan freshman pitcher Maci Brown were named the ninth set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Chryssofos and the Tigers won three of four against Ursuline in the conference schedule while Brown and the Panthers bounced back to win the final three games against Cedarville in league play.
For Chryssofos, it’s the second conference weekly league honor this spring and Brown earned her first nod as a first-year student-athlete.

Chryssofos’ light-tower power added to already impressive home run totals she has amassed in a three-year G-MAC career.
She clobbered two more homers against Ursuline, bringing her career total up to 31, including 30 in the conference since 2014.
The senior ranks first among conference players all-time, leading Trevecca Nazarene’s Ansley Brantley (26) by four heading into a new week.
Chryssofos did her damage in limited plate appearances because her reputation as a power threat resulted in five walks.
She came through in the clutch in the final game of the series on Saturday, belting a two-run walk-off shot in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs.
Salem International improved to 3-5 in the conference this past weekend. Chryssofos now has eight home runs on the year and 13 of her 23 hits have been in extra-base fashion.

Brown flirted with perfection against Cedarville, riding plenty of run support from the offense to dazzle with a five-inning no-hitter.
The rookie struck out five in as many innings pitched, issuing just the one walk as the lone obstacle to a perfect game.
Brown racked up three winning decisions in the past week as KWC battled Cedarville and Brescia. She appeared twice vs. the Yellow Jackets in conference action while going the distance against Brescia.
Brown adds to a string of KWC no-hitters pitched in the past two season after Casey Smith tossed two no-hitters in 2015 alone.
She has started 12 games this spring and has compiled five wins.
