GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ohio Valley junior forward Shicole Watts was named the 15th Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.
Watts capped off a monster stretch while the Fighting Scots won their last four consecutive games to clinch the sixth and final seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
She averaged a double-double with 24.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in two games versus league opponents this past week. Watts also averaged 4.5 blocks per contest.
Watts was nearly unstoppable against Kentucky Wesleyan as she finished with 29 points and 17 rebounds. She also had seven blocks, four steals and one assist.
Once again, Watts dialed in another double-double with 20 points from the field and 12 rebounds against another conference opponent, Trevecca Nazarene. She rounded out her stats with three assists and two blocks.
This year, Watts is averaging 19.7 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per contest. She has started 14 of 16 games since joining OVU at the semester break.
The Fighting Scots are getting ready for the G-MAC Championship in Pepper Pike, Ohio, on Thursday. Their quarterfinal matchup will feature a rematch against Kentucky Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. EST.
