USTFCCCA Rankings (Feb. 23)
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville’s women’s track and field team was officially ranked at No. 24 in the newest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets just competed at the NCCAA Championships this past weekend in Marion, Ind.
Cedarville set multiple conference indoor-best times for the current season at its last event with Lyndsey Smith (200m), Carsyn Koch (800m) and Laura Farleman (high jump) all recording G-MAC-leading marks.
It’s the first top-25 national ranking for a G-MAC women’s track and field program since the league’s inception.
The Yellow Jackets are led by the automatic qualifier Koch, a four-time G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. As a sophomore, Koch has blown away various records in the 400, 800 and mile.
Cedarville has also had a number of provisional qualifiers in 2015-16, including Olivia Esbenshade in the 800-meter run and the distance medley relay team.
Cedarville is one of six schools from the Midwest Region rankings appearing in the newest top 25.
At No. 1 is Hillsdale and at No. 18 is Findlay. Both schools are scheduled to join the G-MAC for the 2017-18 academic year.
The Yellow Jackets are preparing to host the 2016 G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Doden Field House.
