GREENWOOD, Ind. - Kentucky Wesleyan jumped up to No. 10 in the weekly National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top-25 Poll announced today.
The Panthers were ranked 15th last week when the program clinched the regular-season Great Midwest Athletic Conference crown and hosting responsibilities for the tournament starting next week.
This is the first top-10 ranking for a G-MAC men’s basketball program in the league’s young history.
The second edition of the Midwest Region rankings will be released tomorrow. The Panthers were unranked in the regional top 10 in the first release.
This marks the highest ranking for KWC since Jan. 22, 2013, when the Panthers were No. 3.
Wheeling Jesuit moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 for the first time in its history.
Other Midwest Region teams ranked were No. 9 Bellarmine, No. 11 Ashland, No. 16 Saginaw Valley State, No. 18 Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Panthers (23-3, 9-1 G-MAC) travel to Ohio Valley on Thursday and Salem International on Saturday to close the regular season.
