GREENWOOD, Ind. - Cedarville sophomore middle distance runner Carsyn Koch was named the eighth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the indoor season on Monday.
Koch has been tabbed for conference weekly honors three consecutive weeks as she routinely crumbled more indoor records, this time at the NCCAA Championships in Marion, Ind.
Koch impressed once again with NCCAA All-American honors in three different events – the 400, 800 and 4x400-meter relay races.
More notably, she was understandably held out of what is arguably her best event after automatically qualifying for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the mile.
Koch won the 800-meter race by more than five seconds with a winning time of 2:10.54. She proceeded to reset the school and NCCAA Championship meet record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.15.
Koch was part of a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.94, the fourth-fastest time clocked in school history. She ran the race with Olivia Esbenshade, Lyndsey Smith and Michaela Nelson.
Cedarville's women tied for second of 20 in the team standings.
Koch’s talents will next be on display this coming Saturday at the second annual G-MAC Indoor Championships in Cedarville’s Doden Field House.
