GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville sophomore middle distance runner Carsyn Koch was named the seventh Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the indoor season on Monday.
Koch continued to raise the bar for herself again after winning conference weekly honors for the third time in the current indoor season.
This time, at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, Koch cleared the provisional qualifying mark and flew around the track for an automatic qualifying time in the mile.
Additionally, Koch was part of a provisional qualifying distance medley relay unit with Olivia Esbenshade, Sarah Hoffman and Lyndsey Smith. They clocked an 11:45.18 on Saturday.
Already having provisionally qualified in the 400 and 800-meter runs, Koch ran a 4:48.36 in the mile on Friday, breaking her own conference record once again.
Through results reported on Sunday, Koch ran the third-fastest mile in the country in the season to date. The fastest mile has been clocked by Emily Oren of Hillsdale (4:45.13).
