2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District MBB Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. –
Ohio Valley sharpshooting guard David Sinickas was part of the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team that was announced on Thursday.

The Academic All-District Team is included the student-athletes listed in the PDF above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

In every Academic All-District™ team selection, the First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. This year in the basketball Academic All-District™ listings, all honorees are first team choices.

Sinickas was joined on the CoSIDA All-District Team in District 4 with several other players from the Midwest Region including Kyle Cooper (Hillsdale), Andy Mazurczak (Wisconsin-Parkside), Kyle Stankowski (Michigan Tech) and Max Strus (Lewis).

He is currently working to finish his degree in Information Technology at Ohio Valley and has compiled a 3.96 GPA. In September of 2015, Sinickas passed the worldwide-recognized Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 200-120 exam.

The Cisco 200-120 CCNA exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to install, operate and troubleshoot a small-to medium-sized enterprise branch network.

Earlier this year, Sinickas became OVU’s DII career leader in three-point field goals made with 178 at the time. He is currently averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting over 46 percent from the field and over 43 percent from deep. In the G-MAC, he ranks second in three-point field goals made (58) this year and is fourth in three-point field goals percentage.

Sinickas will advance in the CoSIDA voting with a spot on the national Academic All-America ballot.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-District Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. Previously, CoSIDA recognized a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I); with the four teams, CoSIDA has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

The Division II and Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
