Two G-MAC Schools Appear in Final Fall Division II Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The final set of fall Learfield Directors' Cup standings were released recently, with a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference institutions appearing on the updated list.

Cedarville University is the top-ranked conference school with 116 points to place 39th overall while Davis & Elkins College is 133rd with 25 points.

Cedarville's women's cross country program was responsible for the majority of the points with an 11th-place team finish in Saint Leo, Fla., at the national meet while the Yellow Jackets volleyball program picked up 17 more points with an opening-round regional win in Big Rapids, Mich.

Davis & Elkins received points based on the Senators' qualifying for the NCAA Midwest Regional in women's soccer.

Additional incoming 2017-18 G-MAC institutions Hillsdale College and the University of Findlay also appear on the distinguished list. Hillsdale currently ranks 36th with 118.50 points while Findlay is 133rd, tied with D&E and others.

Points for the final fall standings were calculated from men's and women's cross country, women's field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

The first set of winter standings will be released mid-March.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. The Directors' Cup Committee is reviewing the scoring structure for 2016-17 which will be finalized prior to the winter sports standings.
