INDIANAPOLIS – Various Great Midwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer student-athletes received postseason awards from different organizations following the conclusion of the 2016 season.
A record number of nine individuals was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Midwest Region Team. The women were separated by first, second and third-team honorees between the three Midwest conferences.
Drawing NSCAA All-Midwest Region First-Team billing was Trevecca Nazarene junior defender
Sophie Callis and Ursuline’s G-MAC Offensive Player/Freshman of the Year
Jill Bohling.
A trio of G-MAC student-athletes earned second-team honors with Ursuline junior defender
Rachel Strahorn, Cedarville freshman midfielder
Hannah Atkinson and Trevecca Nazarene junior midfielder
Hannah Barney.
Four made the third team, including G-MAC leading goal scorer
Christine Najjar of Malone and the league’s third all-time leading scorer
Katrina Giantsopoulos of Davis & Elkins. They were joined by Ursuline senior mid
Cassie Cripe and Cedarville sophomore defender
Hannah Whicker.
Bohling headlined the G-MAC representation on the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) First Team.
The second team included five additional conference selections, including Trevecca Nazarene junior goalkeeper
