INDIANAPOLIS – Various Great Midwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer student-athletes received postseason awards from different organizations following the conclusion of the 2016 season.
 
A record number of nine individuals was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Midwest Region Team. The women were separated by first, second and third-team honorees between the three Midwest conferences.
 
Drawing NSCAA All-Midwest Region First-Team billing was Trevecca Nazarene junior defender Sophie Callis and Ursuline’s G-MAC Offensive Player/Freshman of the Year Jill Bohling.
 
A trio of G-MAC student-athletes earned second-team honors with Ursuline junior defender Rachel Strahorn, Cedarville freshman midfielder Hannah Atkinson and Trevecca Nazarene junior midfielder Hannah Barney.
 
Four made the third team, including G-MAC leading goal scorer Christine Najjar of Malone and the league’s third all-time leading scorer Katrina Giantsopoulos of Davis & Elkins. They were joined by Ursuline senior mid Cassie Cripe and Cedarville sophomore defender Hannah Whicker.
 
Bohling headlined the G-MAC representation on the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) First Team.
 
The second team included five additional conference selections, including Trevecca Nazarene junior goalkeeper Liz Denton, Giantsopoulos, Malone senior mid Brianna Smith, Trevecca Nazarene junior mid Chelsey Russom and Davis & Elkins freshman defender Asheli Freed.
