INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville junior guard Patrick Bain was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday, the second award of the sport this current season.
The 6-foot-3 junior from Tipp City, Ohio, came off the bench in a valuable reserve role to average 15 points and six rebounds as Cedarville split two non-conference Midwest Region contests.
Bain contributed 13 points and four rebounds in a 78-73 home setback to Walsh, a future 2017-18 G-MAC member institution.
He then totaled 17 points and eight boards to lead the Jackets to a 73-61 victory at Northwood (MI) on the road.
For the week, Bain made 12-of-19 shots from the field for 63 percent including 3-of-4 outside the arc. He converted 3-of-6 free throws to go along with two assists and two steals.
The Yellow Jackets have two more non-conference region matchups this week. They host Ferris State on Tuesday before traveling to incoming G-MAC program Findlay on Saturday.
