INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville senior outside hitter Abby Shelton was announced as the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Shelton and the Yellow Jackets celebrated the program’s fourth G-MAC Championship on Saturday and earned the school’s first automatic-qualifying bid into the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.

Shelton was phenomenal in a pair of postseason matches in the six-team G-MAC tournament against No. 2 seed Malone and No. 1 seed (Black Division) Davis & Elkins.

The 2015 G-MAC co-Player of the Year and 2016 G-MAC First-Team All-Conference selection ripped 18 kills in just three games against Malone on Friday.

That effort was countered by a 13-kill, 21-dig outing in the championship match against Davis & Elkins, a final that went the full five sets.

The Yellow Jackets head into the national tournament with a 26-8 overall record. Cedarville also went 9-1 during the regular-season in conference matches.

She averaged 3.88 kills and 4.00 digs per set in the conference tournament. On the season to date, she ranks 10th in hitting percentage in the league and has averaged 3.02 kills per set.
