INDIANAPOLIS – Ursuline redshirt junior Laney Lewis was picked as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Lewis, the 2015 G-MAC Player of the Year, is off to another torrid start for the reigning regular-season and tournament champion Arrows.
Ursuline recorded a win against Clarion and fell in a contest against Midwest Region opponent Saginaw Valley.
Lewis averaged 13 points and 17.5 rebounds per game while recording a pair of double-doubles in UC’s two contests.
Lewis was one assist shy of a triple-double against Clarion, scoring 12 points, grabbing 15 boards and dishing out nine assists. She also had a block and three steals in 30 minutes of court time.
She also filled up the stat sheet against Saginaw Valley with 14 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, a pair of blocks and a steal.
Ursuline is now 3-1 on the young season. Lewis is averaging 13.5 points, 15 rebounds and six assists per game so far.
