ELKINS, WV
– The top four seeds remaining in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship bracket will assemble in West Virginia for the semifinal round that will begin on Thursday.

After enjoying well-deserved first-round byes, top seed and tournament host Davis & Elkins and No. 2 seed Ohio Valley will get their first taste of the postseason tomorrow.

The two teams to advance out of the quarterfinal matchups, No. 4 Alderson Broaddus and No. 3 Cedarville, will be their respective opponents at Nuttall Field.

No. 1 D&E and No. 2 AB will get the early game at 4 p.m. EST while No. 2 OVU and No. 3 CED will play the nightcap with a projected 7 p.m. EST start time.

Live stats and video streaming of the remaining games can be viewed through here.

A team banquet will also be conducted this evening for the first time in the sport’s tournament history. The all-conference award winners will be individually recognized and the official release with the first, second and all-freshman team, will be posted Thursday morning.

Cedarville and Alderson Broaddus have plenty at stake as the two defending tournament finalists from 2015.

The Yellow Jackets are trying to protect and extend a three-year reign (2013, 2014, 2015) as G-MAC Championship titleholders. But both the Yellow Jackets and Battlers find themselves in a strange position as underdogs in terms of seeding.

An all-West Virginia battle will unfold between AB and D&E. The teams split during the regular season, each besting each other as the visitor with 2-0 shutouts.

Ohio Valley beat Cedarville in the first regular-season meeting and both teams battled to a double OT stalemate to conclude the league schedule.

After eliminating No. 6 Kentucky Wesleyan in the first round, Cedarville’s Joel Twinem was named the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight time. Alderson Broaddus upended No. 5 Trevecca Nazarene in part to a goal and assist from Shavon John-Brown.

The Senators are trying to get back to the conference championship final for the first time since 2014. PK's have been the only thing to trip D&E up in the 2013 final and in the 2015 semifinals. D&E won four of its last five coming into the playoffs and is led by freshman Tim Staerz and senior Lukas Grosse-Puppendahl with five goals apiece.

The Fighting Scots were in contention for the regular-season title down to the last week in the regular season. Ohio Valley will be looking to regain its midseason form after losing two and tying to end the regular season. Fredy Robayo and Camilo Sarmiento each have five goals for a balanced OVU attack.

An automatic qualifier berth to the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional is not available until next year. The top six seeds of the NCAA Regional Rankings officially make the national tournament field.
