INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins senior guard Stephanie Wooten was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Wooten played a starring role as the Senators reeled off consecutive wins against GLIAC opponents Tiffin and Lake Erie.
She recorded back-to-back double-doubles with some impressive numbers across the board the league has grown accustomed to.
Wooten averaged 27 points, eight assists and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from long range on 13 makes out of 25 attempts. She also averaged 3.5 steals on the defensive end.
In a two-point win against Tiffin, Wooten had 23 points and 10 rebounds while making five three-point shots. She also dished out six assists in 39 minutes on the floor.
In a double-overtime thriller against future G-MAC member Lake Erie, Wooten scored 31 points in 47 minutes. She drained eight triples and handed out 10 assists while shooting 11-of-21 from the field.
She ranks second among all G-MAC scoring career leaders with 1,211 points since D&E was a league member for the 2013-14 season. She also ranks second in three-pointers made and assists, ninth in steals and sixth in free throws made.
