INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville senior Joel Twinem and Alderson Broaddus freshman Sergio Prieto were both named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Both were instrumental in advancing their respective teams out of the quarterfinals and into the semifinals as the G-MAC Championship officially began on Saturday.
As the No. 3 seed, Cedarville beat No. 6 Kentucky Wesleyan, and No. 4 Alderson Broaddus was able to defeat No. 5 Trevecca Nazarene.
Both teams will be traveling to Elkins, WV, for the semifinal contests on Thursday this week.
G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week

For the second week in a row, Twinem earned offensive honors for his efforts, this time in the playoffs.
Twinem scored a pair of goals in the first half against Kentucky Wesleyan, including a PK conversion, as the Yellow Jackets were able to seize early momentum. The Yellow Jackets have now won five of their last six games as they continue their postseason run.
Cedarville improved to 10-6-3 overall and is getting ready to face No. 2 seed Ohio Valley on the pitch in the next round.
Twinem now has four goals and a pair of assists in 18 games played this season.

Prieto made three saves on seven shots to preserve the Battlers’ opening-round win at home against Trevecca Nazarene.
He went head-to-head against another freshman G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week from earlier in the year, TNU’s Tyler Delgado. Prieto now has 3-3-0 record on the season with one shutout.
Prieto matched his season-high save total with three and will try and help the Battlers in their next playoff game against top seed Davis & Elkins on Thursday.
Alderson Broaddus is now 9-7-2 overall on the season to date.
