INDIANAPOLIS - On homecoming weekend, two institutions delivered wins to help them earn combined Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors as announced by the league on Monday.

Alderson Broaddus (2-2) continues to sport one of the fiercest defenses in the country as the Battlers tamed Fort Valley State. Kentucky Wesleyan (1-4) handed a former conference foe a loss in Central State as the Panthers recorded their first win of the season.

Malone (1-4) had a tough road setback against its second consecutive Division I FCS opponent in Saint Francis (PA).

After being selected as the G-MAC Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week in the second week of the season, Cole has another memorable offensive outburst that was central in helping his team to victory.

The senior speedster burned the Marauders' secondary to the tune of 155 yards on just five receptions. He scored on an 81-yar connection from quarterback DaMarcus Smith -- his third scoring play of 80 yards or more this year alone.

Both of Cole's touchdowns came in the second half. He had a 25-yard scoring touch that capped a nine-play, 87-yard drive as the Panthers drove nearly the length of the field to break a 7-7 tie.

In just five games, Cole has 628 yards on 25 receptions and seven touchdowns. He is currently averaging 125.6 yards per game and leads the G-MAC in scoring.

G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Four different Battlers have now garnered five of the weekly conference defensive honors, a testament for how balanced one of the nation's top units really is.

Stephens was a one-man wrecking crew against Fort Valley State as he racked up a game-high 11 tackles and four of those were for a loss.

He additionally wreaked havoc in the backfield with two sacks and also forced a fumble.

Stephens was relentless as he sacked Fort Valley State quarterback Mekall Yancie on consecutive plays to end the third quarter, effectively pushing the Wildcats out of Alderson Broaddus territory.

The Battlers' defense is ranked second nationally in total defense, permitting opponents to gain just over 208 yards per game. Stephens now has 22 tackles on the year, including 3.5 sacks.

The homegrown product delivered nine total points from his accurate leg to contribute to AB's homecoming victory.

Schiefelbein cashed in on field goals from 19 and 27 yards out as he effectively opened and concluded the game's scoring.

His 19-yard chip shot in the first quarter ended a seven-play drive while his 27-yarder in the final period helped the Battlers chew up over seven minutes off the clock late in regulation.

Schiefelbein is now fifth in the G-MAC in scoring with three field goals and five extra points made.
