INDIANAPOLIS - Cedarville junior middle hitter Gabby Olson was named the most recent Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The Yellow Jackets swept all three of their conference opponents last week, winning all possible nine sets.
Olson compiled an impressive hitting percentage of .617, averaged 3.22 kills per set and 1.33 blocks per set. She had 29 kills in three matches.
The Yellow Jackets topped Malone 25-11, 25-10, 25-22, in a straight sweep while Olson contributed nine kills and five blocks. She followed with seven kills and four more blocks against Ursuline.
Cedarville also overwhelmed Ohio Valley in three games as Olson led the way with 13 kills on a .765 percentage while having no attacking errors on the week.
The Yellow Jackets are now 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the G-MAC league schedule so far. Olson is a big part of why Cedarville is leading the conference in attacking percentage, blocks and kills.
Olson ranks second in hitting percentage (.328), fourth in kills per set (3.15) and second in blocks (1.03).
The Yellow Jackets are one of five G-MAC schools competing in the Mizuno Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover this week in Aurora, Ill. More information will be released on the tournament on Tuesday.
