10.10.16

INDIANAPOLIS - Fresh off staking its claim for first in the league standings, Trevecca Nazarene had both Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week selections as announced on Monday.

The Trojans are red hot, shutting out seven consecutive opponents to the tune of a 6-0-1 record in that span.

TNU was able to upend Ursuline in overtime to move into the driver's seat as postseason seeding and tournament hosting responsibilities remain at stake.

The Trojans are now 9-3-1 overall and 7-2-0 in the conference. Trevecca Nazarene has 21 conference points to lead all teams.

G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Lauren Winters
Trevecca Nazarene University
Junior
Forward
Joelton, TN

Winters made impactful contributions in both Trevecca Nazarene wins vs. Ursuline and Malone as she finished with four points on the week.

She assisted a game-winning strike off the foot of Lidiya Ogorodnik in the 92nd minute against Ursuline, effectively helping vault the Trojans into sole possession of first in the G-MAC standings with the win.

Trevecca Nazarene kept the pressure on Malone with a 3-0 decision against the Pioneers. Winters scored and assisted another goal in the winning effort.

G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Abbie Alosi
Trevecca Nazarene University
Senior
Defender
Ooltewah, TN

Alosi has been on the all-conference team for three consecutive seasons and as a defender, her contributions certainly fly under the radar as a victim of statistical value in the box score.

Alosi is now a senior after earning all-conference first-team honors as a junior, second-team status as a sophomore and landing on the all-freshman team as a rookie.

She has been one of the linchpins for the Trojans' success in the back that has translated into seven consecutive shutouts.

By helping blank Ursuline and Malone, Alosi is well on her way to potentially meriting serious consideration from the coaches for a campaign towards G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year.
