Wells and the Panthers rang in the new calendar year in style, stunning a red-hot Ursuline program on the Arrows’ with a thrilling overtime final on the road.

The former Black Bear at the University of Maine helped the Panthers claw back from a 12-0 deficit through the first 5:38 of regulation and a 48-34 halftime hole.

Wells’ buzzer-beating layup with no time left on the clock capped a wild finish in the final minute of overtime.

The Arrows led by as many as six in the extra session before the Panthers went on a 6-0 run in the last 1:51.

Wells, KWC’s leading scorer on the year, finished with 15 points on precise 6-of-7 shooting. She collected a pair of steals and sank both tries from long distance in 25 minutes of court time.

This year, Wells is averaging 12.6 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per contest. She has started eight of 11 games.

Kentucky Wesleyan improved to 7-4 on the year and handed Ursuline its first loss in the Arrows’ new gym in eight attempts and ended a seven-game UC win streak. It was the conference opener for both teams.
