GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene senior guard Byron Sanford was named the seventh Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.
Sanford, a consummate triple-double threat every time on the court, was at it again as the Trojans made their mark on the road to start the G-MAC schedule.
TNU defeated Cedarville in the conference opener for both teams as Sanford led all players with 32 points, the third-highest scoring total in the league this year.
Sanford picked apart the Yellow Jackets for his season-high scoring mark on 9-of-12 shooting. He also made 14 tries on free throws, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Trevecca Nazarene won in the Callan Athletic Center despite trailing by four at halftime. The Trojans surged in the second half with a +16 scoring differential and shot 50 percent as a team for the game.
