GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus senior guard/forward Rachel Ashley was named the 10th Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.
This is the second G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
Like the Battlers’ men, the AB women earned two conference wins this past week, at home against Ohio Valley and on the road with Salem International.
As a result, Alderson Broaddus forced its way into an updated three-way tie for third in the G-MAC standings with Ursuline and Davis & Elkins at 3-2.
Ashley finished a strong week by averaging 18 points per game, shooting 51.5 percent from the field and averaging four assists.
Versus OVU at home, Ashley went 8-for-13 from the field as part of her 17 points and three assists to contribute to the Battlers’ win.
Ashley logged her fourth double-double of the year at Salem International with a well-rounded line of 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
This year, Ashley is averaging 15.1 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, and a field goal percentage of .538. She also has three games of scoring 20 points or more.
Currently, she’s ranked third in the G-MAC in scoring, fourth in rebounding, third in field goal percentage, 10th in assists, seventh in steals and 10th in blocked shots.
