GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus senior forward Richard Lemon was named the 10th Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.
The Battlers came out of a weather-ravaged week with a record of 2-0 in the conference schedule with wins against Ohio Valley and Salem International.
Lemon averaged a double-double with 16 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He also shot nearly 53 percent from the field on 17 shot attempts.
Alderson Broaddus defeated Ohio Valley by a 27-point margin last week as Lemon collected 12 rebounds (five offensive) and scored 17 points, resulting in his fifth double-double of the season.
Lemon also made a floating jumper to score the 1,000th point of his career at AB. He was 6-11 from the field and made a three-point basket.
Lemon ranks sixth all-time in G-MAC career scoring with 869 points, just 30 behind current teammate Thylas Perkins (899) to rank in the top five.
Once again, Lemon was a double-double threat for the Battlers vs. Salem International. He was one rebound away from a double-double with 15 points and nine boards against the Tigers.
He went 9-of-12 from the free-throw line and shot 50 percent from the field. He also dished out three assists.
Lemon currently ranks third in the conference in rebounding (133). He is additionally seventh in field-goal percentage (48.4) and is tied for second in assists (4.1). He is averaging 13.1 points per game.
