9.8.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ohio Valley junior outside hitter Alyx Henry was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Tuesday.

Henry, the reigning G-MAC Player of the Year, and the Fighting Scots won three of four matches to begin the season at the Millersville Marauder Clash over the weekend.

The native from Norwalk, Calif., accumulated 63 total kills in just 15 sets versus the likes of host Millersville, Felician, University of the Sciences and Virginia Union.

Henry averaged 4.2 kills per set and had an attacking percentage north of .380 while averaging nearly three digs per set for the 2014 G-MAC Championship runner-up Fighting Scots.

Against the University of the Sciences in a five-set final, OVU rallied back down two sets to none as Henry erupted with 19 kills on just 32 swings. She hit .469 in that match as Ohio Valley completed the tough comeback.

Ohio Valley hits the court later today at home against Kentucky Christian University.
