G-MAC Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week (Sept. 8)

9.8.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville senior forward Jacoby Ziegler was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the fall on Tuesday.

Ziegler had a hat trick and assisted on another goal against Urbana in the season opener as Cedarville rolled with a 5-0 win at home.

The Yellow Jackets also battled No. 23 West Virginia Wesleyan deep into double overtime before coming up on the short end of a 1-0 final.

Ziegler is rounding back into form following a midseason injury that curtailed her 2014 season after winning G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013.

She now has 43 goals, a total that tops all players to come through the G-MAC in its growing three-plus year history.

On just five shots, Ziegler carved up Urbana’s defense for three goals, scoring in the seventh, 24th and 66th minutes, of regulation. She was credited with an assist on Grace Miorelli’s goal in the 50th minute.

Cedarville and Ziegler will next be on the pitch this Thurday to open up the conference slate at Ohio Valley.
