G-MAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week (Sept. 28)

9.28.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. -  Cedarville senior forward Connor Gilmour was named the fourth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.

This marks the second time Gilmour has received weekly conference honors in the current season for the Yellow Jackets (7-1-1 overall), who currently run the table in the league standings at 5-0-0.

Gilmour continued his offensive assault around the conference schedule, scoring four more goals in two conference wins against Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan.

The forward found the net twice in the first 10 minutes and change against TNU. He started the game against Kentucky Wesleyan in similar fashion, drilling two goals in a quick five-minute span to give Cedarville early momentum.

Gilmour leads the conference in points (23), points per game (2.56), goals (11), goals per game (1.22) and game-winning goals (3).

He is tied for the national lead in goals scored with 11, matching the best offensive goal scoring output with Lucas DaSilva (Palm Beach Atlantic) and Chris Hellmann (Lynn).

Gilmour is also just two goals shy from becoming the G-MAC’s all-time leading goal scorer in the league’s history catalogued from the fall of 2012.

He has 37 goals in G-MAC competition since 2013 as James Pucci (Davis & Elkins) logged 38 goals in just two seasons (2013-14).

Cedarville wraps up a six-game homestand this week, hosting Mercyhurst in non-conference action on Wednesday and Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.
