GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville senior forward Connor Gilmour was named the second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
Gilmour is off to the races while leading the G-MAC in a handful of offensive categories this fall, including goals (6), points (13) and game-winning goals (2). He was the 2014 G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year.
The Yellow Jackets enjoyed an unblemished week by reeling off three consecutive road wins, including one against future 2016 G-MAC member Malone in Canton.
Cedarville (4-1-0, 2-0-0 G-MAC) also bested a previously unbeaten Ohio Valley squad and a then-2-1 Salem International program away from home to begin the conference schedule.
Gilmour provided a dramatic finish with the game’s only goal against Malone deep into the first overtime session. He broke open a scoreless contest against the Pioneers in the 99th minute and change.
Gilmour factored into both Cedarville scores against Ohio Valley, assisting the game-opening tally by Zachary Harris before booting home his fourth goal of the year early in the second half.
His scoring barrage continued against Salem International on Saturday with a pair of goals on an early header and a scoring boot midway through the second half.
The Warren, Ohio, native is currently averaging 2.60 points per game. He has scored at least one point in four of Cedarville’s five games.
Cedarville will briefly step out of the conference calendar by hosting Tiffin on Tuesday. The Dragons are receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Top-25 Coaches Poll.
