GREENWOOD, Ind. – The respective Great Midwest Athletic Conference softball players of the year each landed various regional honors for their performances throughout the spring season.
Trevecca Nazarene’s Haley Fagan and Lindsey Stephens were both selected by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Daktronics for postseason awards in the Midwest Region.
Fagan was the G-MAC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight year and Stephens was the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year after sharing the honors last year as a junior.
The Trojans capped a phenomenal postseason run with their third-consecutive league title and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Championship Midwest Regional.
Fagan, the G-MAC Pitcher of the Year, had high NCAA D2 rankings that include the 6th in shutouts (11), 14th best earned run average (1.29), 22nd in victories (23), 28th in hits allowed per seven innings (5.07), 41st in strikeouts (171).
She was 23-6 on the year with a save while compiling a 1.29 earned run average with 56 walks, 171 strikeouts over 185 innings pitched.
Stephens, the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year, ranked high in several NCAA Division II statistical categories. Stephens was 28th in triples (5) and 43rd in doubles per game (.34).
She had a .403 batting average, 62 hits, 33 runs, 17 doubles, five triples, seven home runs, 48 RBI, 13 walks, a .448 on base %, and a .714 slugging percentage.
Trevecca Nazarene finished 40-10 overall and was 20-1 in the G-MAC and then were the first TNU and G-MAC team to advance to the
NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.
The new ground continued to be uncovered as the Trojans were the first Trevecca and G-MAC team to win a region game and also advance to the championship of a regional.
