GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has officially announced that Malone University will join as a member in the league effective for the 2016-17 academic year.
“The G-MAC is proud to welcome Malone as its’ newest member,” said G-MAC Commissioner Tom Daeger. “The Conference will benefit tremendously from the addition of another institution that embraces athletics as a valued aspect of its overall institutional mission. Malone is committed to NCAA Division II and maintains a profile that aligns seamlessly with fellow G-MAC members. ”
Malone, located in Canton, Ohio, is a private, liberal arts college, and currently sponsors 18 intercollegiate sports, including each of the G-MAC’s core sports.
The institution previously competed as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) since 2011 and became an active NCAA member in 2013.
“We are excited about the expansion of the G-MAC to include Malone University,” said Ursuline President and G-MAC Presidents Council Chair Diana Stano. “As a conference focusing on private institutions with a similar value orientation and emphasizing the student-athlete, Malone University is an excellent fit for us and will add to our growing conference.”
The Conference, with the addition of Malone, will consist of at least eight member institutions for the 2016-17 academic year.
