GREENWOOD, Ind.
– The campus of Cedarville University will once again serve as host to one of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, this time with outdoor men’s and women’s track and field primed for Saturday.

Outdoor track and field sets the stage for the flurry of spring G-MAC postseason tournaments with the men’s and women’s golf due up next on Monday-Tuesday in Middletown, Ohio.

After showcasing their skills not too long ago at Kenyon College for the G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, student-athletes from around the league will assemble again at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Track & Field Complex.

The outdoor championship is set to begin with field events and preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The G-MAC Championship page for outdoor track & field can be viewed here

Provisional qualifiers during the outdoor season for the NCAA Division II Championships include Carsyn Koch (Cedarville – 400m, 800m, 1,500m), Benjamin Tuttle (Cedarville – 10K), Caroline Hampton (Trevecca Nazarene – 5K) and Bea Indurain (Ursuline – 100m high hurdles)

Six teams (Alderson Broaddus, Cedarville, Central State, Kentucky Wesleyan, Trevecca Nazarene, Ursuline) are featured on the women’s side while five (minus Ursuline) will battle it out for bragging rights in men’s competition.

Differing events that are included in the outdoor season feature the hammer throw, javelin and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Discus will also be conducted in the throwing events. The awards ceremony will be conducted at the end of competition approximately at 5:15 p.m.

This will be the second year of G-MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship competition. Cedarville's men was crowned the 2014 outdoor champion while Ursuline's women earned champion status.

The same two institutions earned inaugural indoor championship titles as well.

Admission at the gate is $5 for adults and $3 for students with a valid ID.  The weekend weather in Cedarville is projected to be mostly sunny in the mid-70’s.
