INDIANAPOLIS –
The Cedarville women’s basketball program is putting on its dancing shoes during March Madness.

Following several weeks of patiently waiting in the Midwest Region rankings while continuing to pile up the wins, Selection Sunday paid off for the Lady Jackets when they heard the field of 64 unveiled last night.

After securing the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, Cedarville made history as the first G-MAC national championship qualifier in a tournament format.

The G-MAC will start receiving automatic qualifying bids to the NCAA Championships effective for the 2015-16 academic year.

Cedarville was outside the bubble at No. 10 in the Midwest Region rankings for three consecutive releases and has aspirations of pulling off a Cinderella-type run through the bracket.

Cedarville will enter the national tournament on a six-game win streak, most recently toppling Kentucky Wesleyan in the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Championship final.

The Lady Jackets (27-3, 15-1 G-MAC) earned the No. 8 seed and are ticketed for a opening-round matchup at regional host and No. 1 seed Michigan Tech, tournament champs of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in Houghton.

Game time for No. 8 Cedarville and the top-seeded Huskies (27-2, 20-2 GLIAC) is slated for Friday, March 13, at 5 p.m. EST.

The winner would advance to the next round to face either No. 4 Southern Indiana or No. 5 Ashland.

Cedarville features both the G-MAC Coach of the Year (Kirk Martin) and the G-MAC Player of the Year (Raegan Ryan). The Lady Jackets also landed Kayla Linkous on the first team while a trio of first-year student-athletes were tabbed to the all-freshman team (Regina Hochstetler, Breanne Watterworth, Abby Wolford).
