GREENWOOD, Ind. – A prolific shooting display from Cedarville’s Marcus Reineke carried the senior guard to Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors as announced on Monday.
Reineke shot nearly 62 percent from the field and averaged 25.5 points per game as the Yellow Jackets beat Davis & Elkins and dropped a tough one against Alderson Broaddus in league play.
He also averaged five rebounds and four assists per game while sinking 18-of-19 tries at the charity stripe. Reineke was deadly from deep, sinking seven of his nine tries from beyond the arc.
Reineke was efficient against Alderson Broaddus to the tune of 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting as Cedarville was in control the majority of the game. He sank a trio of three-point field goals, grabbed three rebounds and dished three assists.
Against Davis & Elkins, Reineke matched his season-high point total by erupting for 32 points on 8-of-11 shooting. It was the third game this season he scored 30 points or more and the effort equaled a 32-point outburst at Lewis on Dec. 6.
Reineke helped lift Cedarville to a 5-4 record in the G-MAC. He pulled in seven rebounds and distributed five more assists to go with one steal.
Over the weekend, Reineke re-claimed the title of G-MAC scoring leader, currently averaging 18.4 points per game in 23 games played. He is shooting over 47 percent from the field and is first in free throw percentage, making a staggering 82 of his 89 shots at the foul line.
Additionally, Reineke paces the conference in three-point field goals made (63) and is third in three-point field goal percentage (.453).
