GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene’s Haley Fagan and Salem International’s Alyssa Discepola were both honored as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher/Player of the Week selections on Monday.
Fagan was dominant in the circle for her lone start against Lincoln Memorial and Discepola burst on to the scene as a freshman with dynamic offensive numbers as the Tigers rolled out to a 3-1 start this spring.

Fagan handcuffed the Lincoln Memorial offense to the tune of a three-hit shutout. She fanned seven hitters and only walked one. The Trojans rolled to a six-inning 8-0 final against the Railsplitters in game one of the doubleheader.
In her third start this spring, Fagan improved to 2-1 and lowered her ERA to 2.45. She is striking out nearly one batter per inning (19 K in 20 IP).
Trevecca Nazarene has compiled a 3-3 overall record in the season to date.

Alyssa Discepola

Outfielder
Freshman – Rio Grande, N.J.
Discepola established herself as a formidable presence in the middle of the lineup as Salem International swept Shaw and split a doubleheader against Johnson C. Smith.
The true freshman went a combined 10-for-16 (.625) with seven RBI in four games and recorded at least two hits in each contest.
Discepola’s collegiate debut resulted in a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. She drove in two more runs against Johnson C. Smith while going 2-for-4 in the second game of the doubleheader.
On Saturday, she slugged two doubles and plated the eventual game-winning runs with a single in the seventh inning. Discepola was 2-for-4 against Shaw in the first game of the twinbill.
