GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene junior Katelyn Atkinson was recognized as a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Midwest Region Team on Wednesday.
Atkinson, the co-player of the year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, was named to the AVCA Midwest Region Honorable Mention Team with five others.
This is the first-ever AVCA postseason honor for a G-MAC volleyball student-athlete for a regional award since the first year of conference competition in 2012.
Atkinson has helped lead the Trojans to their first-ever conference tournament championship and the G-MAC's first automatic qualifier bid to the NCAA Division II Championship Midwest Regional.
The Trojans are preparing to face Ferris State in the NCAA Division II Championship Midwest Regional in their opening-round matchup on Thursday at 5 p.m. EST.
Atkinson is the G-MAC’s current career and season record holder in points. She is also out in front for the conference career record in kills per set and points per set.
She was a three-time G-MAC Athlete of the Week from the 2015 fall campaign.
