GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference helped form the new Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) Division II All-Midwest Region Volleyball Team on Wednesday.
A total of 14 players from the G-MAC, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) made up a first and second team.
The CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected through voting by the region's sports information directors.
Trevecca Nazarene's Katelyn Atkinson and Cedarville's Abby Shelton both made the second team.
Atkinson and Shelton each received G-MAC Co-Player of the Year honors in the fall, leading their respective teams to a showdown in the conference championship final.
Atkinson’s Trojans prevailed in a straight-set decision and Trevecca Nazarene is now preparing to face Ferris State tomorrow in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional at 5 p.m. EST.
The seven first team all-region players will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Wednesday, Dec. 9.
