G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week (Nov. 9)

11.9.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene senior setter Loren Bennett was named the 10th Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.

The Trojans continued to roll through the regular season this past week, recording three conference wins in straight-set fashion.

TNU is one of three teams to have officially clinched a postseason bid in the G-MAC Championship along with Cedarville and Alderson Broaddus. This week marks the end of the regular season around the league.

Bennett is instrumental in setting the table for the Trojans’ hitters, most notably teammate and two-time conference athlete of the week Katelyn Atkinson.

Her career numbers are starting to accumulate as she cements her status among the conference elite in the league’s near four-year history.

Bennett averaged 11.62 assists in nine sets as the Trojans took care of business against Kentucky Wesleyan, Ohio Valley and Salem International.

In her G-MAC career, Bennett has recorded 2,411 total assists, a number that is quickly approaching the all-time record of 2,478 by Maddie Ledbetter (Cedarville) from 2012-14.

On the season, Bennett leads the G-MAC in passing numbers with 1,002 assists and 10.33 assists per set. She ranks in the top 50 nationally in assists per set.

TNU is currently 16-11 (6-3 G-MAC) and will carry a four-match win streak into its regular-season finale against Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
