CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The top two seeds in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship bracket, No. 1 Cedarville and No. 2 Alderson Broaddus, are on a collision course to meet in Saturday’s final.
In Thursday’s G-MAC Championship semifinal action, top-seeded Cedarville upended No. 4 Ohio Valley, 2-0, while No. 6 Davis & Elkins took AB to the wire before succumbing in an epic shootout.
The Yellow Jackets stifled the Fighting Scots for the third time this season while pitching a 2-0 shutout at home.
Jon Brown and two-time G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year Connor Gilmour both found the net after both teams dueled to a scoreless draw until the 61st minute of regulation.
In the nightcap. Davis & Elkins scored in the fourth minute off a Wes Hendrix goal before the Battlers chipped away and drew even with about 12 minutes left to play courtesy of Marco Profumo.
Neither team could score the game winner and in a long shootout, Callum Doyle followed a Davis & Elkins miss with a shot on target that found the net and vaulted AB into the final.
Saturday’s final at Cedarville between the Yellow Jackets and Battlers will get underway at 1 p.m. EST.
Live stats and video will be available for Saturday’s final.
