G-MAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week (Nov. 30)

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus senior guard Malcolm Tatum was named the third Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.
 
Tatum averaged 17 points and five assists per game in two contests over the Thanksgiving holiday against an undefeated Ashland program and Le Moyne.
 
AB participated in the Gary Miller Classic hosted by Gannon University in Erie, Pa.
 
Tatum was the G-MAC Player of the Year as a junior in 2014-15 while helping lead the Battlers to their second straight conference tournament title run.
 
He shot 7-of-14 from the field against Ashland for a team-high 20 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. Tatum also sank a three-point basket and made five of six free-throw attempts.
 
The Battlers had a five-point lead at halftime, but couldn’t close out the Eagles in the second half in an eventual eight-point defeat.
 
AB got back on the winning track the next day in the consolation game against the Dolphins of Le Moyne with Tatum pouring in 14 points and dishing out seven dimes.
 
He also recorded a pair of steals and shot efficient from the floor against at a 6-for-13 clip.
 
Through four games played, Tatum is averaging 15.3 points per game and ranks second in the G-MAC in assists per contest (4.3). He’s also currently third in free-throw percentage at over 83 percent made (10-for-13).
 
The Battlers are currently 3-2 overall on the young season.
