GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene freshman outside hitter Clare Taylor was named the 12th and final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
Offensively and defensively, Taylor was a key piece of the puzzle for the Trojans’ G-MAC Championship tournament title run in Mason, Ohio.
As the No. 2 seed in the Blue Division, Trevecca Nazarene won matches in three consecutive days to earn the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.

TNU beat No. 3 Kentucky Wesleyan in the quarterfinals, eliminated No. 1 Alderson Broaddus in the semifinals and toppled No. 1 Cedarville in the final on Saturday in Mason Arena.
In the three matches, Taylor accounted for 43 kills in just 11 sets, displaying an average of 3.91 kills per set. She attacked with a .222 percentage, averaged 3.45 digs and contributed four blocks.
Taylor erupted for 22 kills in TNU’s first matchup of the G-MAC Championship bracket, a five-set final vs. Kentucky Wesleyan. She also dug out 12 attack attempts by the Panthers.
On Friday, Taylor tallied a dozen more kills to go with 13 digs. She recorded nine kills, 13 digs and a pair of blocks.
Taylor’s first-year averages came out to 2.14 kills per set and 2.83 digs per set. She played in 101 total sets and was second on the team with 216 kills while earning a selection to the G-MAC All-Freshman Team.
The Trojans completed the regular season/conference tournament with a 20-11 overall record.
