G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week (Nov. 2)

11.2.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville junior middle blocker Rachel Krikke was named the ninth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.

This is the second time Krikke, a 6-1 talent from North Royalton, Ohio, has been tabbed for conference weekly honors in 2015.

Krikke and the Yellow Jackets outlasted Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan on the road in five-set thrillers while also taking on Bellarmine earlier in the week.

Cedarville officially clinched the top seed in the Blue Division and is in pursuit of the top overall seed and another regular-season title for the G-MAC Championship on Nov. 19-21 in Mason, Ohio.

Krikke averaged 3.50 kills, 1.14 blocks and hit .368 on the week, as the Yellow Jackets improved to 14-13 and 8-1 in the G-MAC.

Arguably, her best match of the week came against Trevecca Nazarene where Krikke ripped 18 kills on 42 swings. She also had eight blocks as Cedarville edged the Trojans in a back-and-forth match that went down to the wire.

She nearly matched those numbers in another marathon match against Kentucky Wesleyan, swinging for .361 and 15 more kills. Krikke remained a defensive force up front with five more blocks.

Versus Bellarmine from the GLVC, Krikke had 16 kills on .410 hitting while contributing three more blocks.

On the season, Krikke is leading the G-MAC in hitting percentage (.361) and is third in blocks per set (0.81).
