GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ursuline senior forward Vanessa Consiglio was named the ninth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
Consiglio, the league’s reigning G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year from 2014, continues to put up staggering offensive numbers in her final season as the Arrows aim to defend the conference tournament trophy.
The talented playmaker scored her 16th goal of the fall and was credited with three assists in two games as the regular season concluded and the postseason got underway.
Ursuline advanced out of the quarterfinal stage of the G-MAC Championship bracket as the No. 3 seed, tripping up No. 6 Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.
After assisting on the game’s first goal, Consiglio drilled a shot of hers past the keeper in the 23rd minute to give the Arrows a 2-0 lead.
She later assisted on a Cassie Cripe score in the second half as Ursuline won by a final score of 4-2.
The Arrows improved to 10-6-2 overall on the year and are preparing to face second-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan in G-MAC Championship semifinal action on Thursday in Elkins, W.Va.
Earlier in the week, Consiglio aided a fierce double-overtime draw salvaged against Cedarville in the regular-season finale. She assisted a Cripe goal early in the first half as both teams got on the scoreboard quickly.
In 18 games this fall, Consiglio has totaled 43 points (third in the league). She has scored 16 goals and dished out 11 assists.
