G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week (Nov. 16)

11.16.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene junior forward Sarah Raby was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for 2015-16 on Monday.

Raby carved out impressive averages over opening weekend around the G-MAC, posting double-double stretches against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponents Findlay and Ferris State.

As part of TNU-hosted Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville, the Trojans salvaged a split as TNU began the post-Kaci Britt Bell and Christina Curtner era.

Raby shouldered a large amount of the offensive load and fiercely crashed the glass to lead her team in both categories.

The junior forward averaged 21.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per contest. She also shot over 68 percent (15-of-22) from the field and made 12-of-15 shots at the charity stripe.

Against Findlay, an incoming G-MAC member institution for 2016-17, the Trojans outscored the Oilers in the second half, but couldn’t overcome a 20-point halftime gap.

Raby sank 6-of 10 shots from the field and finished with 18 points to go with nine rebounds. She also handed out four assists from her position in the post.

The Trojans ripped through Ferris State after outscoring the Bulldogs 51-22 through first two quarters.

Raby was a force on both ends of the floor again, this time erupting for 25 points to go with 15 rebounds, including six on the offensive end of the floor. Her efficiency was notable again by missing just three shots of her 12 taken while she chipped in a block and steal.
