GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship bracket played out according to seeding following Saturday’s quarterfinal results.
The third and fourth seeds both prevailed and will face the No. 1, Davis & Elkins, and No. 2, Kentucky Wesleyan, in Thursday’s semifinals in Elkins, W.Va.
No. 3-seeded Ursuline took care of business on its home field against No. 6 Alderson Broaddus, saddling the Battlers with a 4-2 decision.
Ursuline had two goals from Steph Chlad while Vanessa Consiglio scored and assisted on two others. Cassie Cripe also scored and had an assist.
The Arrows had a 3-1 lead at the half and outshot their opponent 26-6. UC improved to 10-6-2 while AB settled with a 7-12-0 overall record to close out its season.
The Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan await Ursuline in a Thursday semifinal that is scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m. EST.
Also taking advantage of playing on its home field was No. 4 Cedarville versus No. 5 Trevecca Nazarene. The Yellow Jackets climbed out of an early 1-0 hole following a goal in the second minute by TNU’s Sophie Callis.
Jacoby Ziegler scored her 19th goal for the equalizer while Grace Miorelli found the net for the eventual game winner early in the second half.
Ziegler also was credited with the assist on Miorelli’s 11th goal of the season. Cedarville upped its record to 11-4-4 overall while Trevecca Nazarene concluded its year at 9-7-3.
G-MAC regular-season champion Davis & Elkins is the next stop for Cedarville. The Senators and Yellow Jackets will play the early semifinal at 11 a.m. EST.
