10.26.15

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ohio Valley junior outside/right side Alyx Henry was named the eighth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.

This is the second time the 2014 G-MAC Player of the Year has been picked for weekly league honors during the current fall season.

Henry and Fighting Scots (10-15, 3-0 G-MAC) collected two conference wins against Ursuline and division-leading Cedarville this past week. OVU also matched up against Bluefield State.

In 11 sets, Henry powered down 48 kills and had 36 digs. She averaged 4.36 kills per set and 3.27 digs per set. She also served up three aces and had four blocks.

Both of OVU’s conference wins were in four-set fashion. After tallying 12 kills vs. BSU, Henry posted 15 vs. Ursuline and erupted for 21 against Cedarville.

The Fighting Scots interrupted a six-match G-MAC win streak for the Yellow Jackets in a rematch of last year’s conference tournament final.

Henry currently ranks third in the G-MAC in kills per set and fourth in attacking percentage.

Ohio Valley continues the conference road swing this week against Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus.
