G-MAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week (Oct. 26)

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville senior midfielder Zachary Harris was named the eighth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.

This is the second time Harris has been tabbed for weekly league honors (Oct. 12) after netting another overtime game clincher vs. then-No. 16 Alderson Broaddus earlier this month.

Harris’ heroics were on display once again, this time late in regulation against an upset-minded Salem International squad under the lights on Thursday.

After Cedarville stormed out to an early two-goal lead, the Tigers managed to lock things up early in the second half. In the 88th minute, Harris buried a feed from Jon Brown to break a 2-2 tie and send the Yellow Jackets off the pitch victorious.

Cedarville’s win against the Tigers officially clinched the G-MAC regular-season title and secured the top seed with hosting responsibilities for the conference tournament.

Cedarville’s 2-0 week also included a 5-0 shutout against Ohio Valley on Saturday.

Harris has recorded a total of five goals and an assist this fall.

The Yellow Jackets, currently at fourth in the first listing of the NCAA Midwest Region rankings, have won five straight. They are 13-3-1 overall and 10-2-0 in the G-MAC.

Cedarville's next game will be in the postseason on Thursday, Nov. 5, at home in the G-MAC Championship semifinals. The Yellow Jackets receive a first-round bye for quarterfinal action.
