INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference had two institutions, Cedarville and Davis & Elkins, make their way into the first NCAA Women’s Soccer Regional Rankings as announced on Wednesday.
Cedarville is ranked at No. 8 while Davis & Elkins is ranked at No. 10 in the Midwest Region.
Conference-leading Davis & Elkins is 12-2-0 overall while running a league record of 10-1-0. Cedarville is 8-4-3 overall while currently with a 5-3-3 G-MAC record.
Teams from the G-MAC, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), are considered for the Midwest Region rankings.
Grand Valley State (GLIAC) leads the Midwest Region with the top ranking while GLVC schools Bellarmine, Quincy, Missouri-St. Louis and Truman, rounded out the top five.
Ashland (GLIAC) is ranked sixth followed by Drury (GLVC). Cedarville and Davis & Elkins sandwiched Ohio Dominican (GLIAC), which checked in with a No. 9 ranking.
The winner of the G-MAC Women’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic qualifier spot for the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Committees up to the NCAA Championship selections.
