INDIANAPOLIS - On Wednesday, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference hosted its annual Athletic Trainer Committee meetings in conjunction with the Sports information Directors and Compliance Coordinators committee meetings in Cincinnati, Ohio.
As part of the committee meeting, the conference office presented the 2013-14 Athletic Training Staff of the Year award to the training staff at Trevecca Nazarene University. Accepting the award for TNU was head athletic trainer Jared White, along with assistant athletic trainers Ben Cleveland and Stephanie Scott. White and Cleveland will each be entering their seventh year at TNU, while Scott will be in her sixth in 2014-15.
“We are extremely honored to be the recipients of the Athletic Training Staff of the year,” said White. “I am blessed to be able to work with such a great staff for six years now. They are the ones who really make our department what it is.
“We strive annually to better the healthcare that we give our student-athletes, our university and our conference as well. It is an exciting time to be part of Trevecca as well as the G-MAC and we look forward to the future and are committed to raising the standards of student-athlete healthcare each year.”
The Athletic Training Staff of the Year award is presented to the top institution as voted on by the head athletic trainer from each member institution. The purpose for the award is to raise awareness of the athletic training profession and the incredible job our training staffs do throughout the conference for both their own student-athletes, but as well as visiting student-athletes.
Criteria for the award included host athletic training staff hospitality toward visiting athletic training staffs; host athletic training staff preparedness with supplies, equipment and services for visiting athletic training staff and athletic teams; host athletic training staff preparedness for emergency situations; and host athletic training staff’s care for injured athletes from visiting athletic teams.
