GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference and commissioner Tom Daeger has announced the hiring of Ben Schlesselman as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communication in the month of August.
Within the conference, Schlesselman will be primarily responsible for the G-MAC strategic communication plan, including social media platforms and initiatives with developing technology.
He will also assist at conference championship events in addition to being the contact to several sports as assigned with a role in the generation of statistics.
“Ben Schlesselman is an outstanding addition to the G-MAC staff and I feel fortunate that he has exhibited a shared passion in leading the Conference to new heights,” Daeger said. “He emerged as the best candidate through the search process for the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communication and his talents and professionalism should contribute greatly in delivering the league’s message.”
Schlesselman joins the G-MAC following a recent three-year tenure at Div. II-affiliated Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he was the sports information director for 14 intercollegiate sport programs.
He has also has head SID experience at Ashford University, an NAIA school located in eastern Iowa.
Schlesselman has worked at the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the Alaska Baseball League with Athletes in Action and performed internships at Iowa State University and the University of Florida Athletics Association.
He was the official scorer for the Clinton LumberKings, the Low-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, for one season.
Schlesselman earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State in 2007 in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication.
